How to pick a random name from Excel
- Open your Excel or Google Sheets file and select the cells that contain names only.
- Copy the column and paste it into the Sneyon picker text box.

If you need an Excel-only shuffle first
Some teachers and coordinators want to randomize the spreadsheet before using a browser tool. In Excel, add a helper column with =RAND(), fill it down, and sort the sheet by that helper column. This gives you a randomized order inside Excel. If you want a visible wheel, pick history, or no-repeat mode afterward, paste the shuffled names into the Sneyon picker.
Prepare a clean pick list
Keep one name in each row of a single column. Remove the header before copying, filter out absent participants, and avoid copying email addresses, grades, ID numbers, or empty columns. Then paste the clean column into the picker; each line becomes one wheel entry.
If a name appears twice in the spreadsheet, use the duplicate-removal option unless the extra entry is intentional. Blank lines are ignored. For recurring groups, keep the authoritative roster in your spreadsheet and paste a fresh working list at the start of each session.
Troubleshooting pasted lists
If several fields appear on the same line, you probably copied multiple columns. Undo the paste and select only the name column. If copied values include quotation marks or commas from a CSV file, open the file in a spreadsheet first and copy the displayed cells. This produces a cleaner list than pasting raw CSV text.
